Student Activity Grant
A grant for students looking to try a new activity!

Once a year the PFT awards four $250 Grants to a student in each grade of Maple Avenue Elementary School for the opportunity to try a new activity.

Students may submit applications along with information about the activity that they wish to try as well as a staff recommendation.  Applications will be accepted from January 2024 until February 21, 2025.

Applications may be submitted via email to:  mapleavenuepft@gmail.com or hard copies may be turned into the classroom teachers who will submit them to the PFT Mailbox.  Applications will be collected from the mailbox by mid-morning on Friday February 21, 2025.

The Applications will be reviewed by the PFT Board of Directors and the winners will be announced at the March PFT Board meeting on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 7:30 pm via Zoom at:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85833512427.

Criteria for Participation

 

  • The activity must be a new experience for the student that he/she has always wanted to participate in including sports team, camp, art class, instrument lesson etc.

 

  • A teacher recommendation MUST be included with the application. The recommendation should be a character reference that includes the teacher describing who the child is as a person and why they should receive the grant. 

 

  • Applications MUST be submitted to the PFT by Friday, February 21, 2025, at mapleavenuepft@gmail.com.  Students can also hand their application to their classroom teacher who can place it in the PFT mailbox prior to the deadline.  Final collection from the school will take place mid-morning of February 21, 2025

 

  • Must cost $250 or more to qualify.  Can be used for multiple months/sessions for activity of choice.

 

  • Winners will be chosen by the Maple Avenue PFT Executive Board and announced at the March PFT Meeting on Thursday, March 14 at 7pm via Zoom.

 

  • One winner per grade will be chosen, however the PFT Executive Board will choose a second recipient in another grade if applications from every grade are not received.  

 

  • Programs that students are applying for must take place within the 2024-2025 school year/or the following Summer Vacation and must be used prior to the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.

 

  • Money will be sent directly to the activity of the student’s choice. The PFT cannot send the money to the parents.  Our Treasurer will be in touch with the winner’s adults to finalize payments and arrangements.
